D. Willis (Wooz) Hartman, 87, of Cornwall Manor, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence. He was the husband of Barbara Schork Hartman whom he married in 1953. Willis was born in Hershey on June 12, 1931 and grew up in Palmyra, son of the late Dr. Samuel A. and Mary Rudisill Hartman.
He was a 1949 graduate of Mercersburg Academy. Willis was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He received his bachelor degree from Ursinus College in 1958, his Master Degree from Villanova University and a Teacher’s Certificate from West Chester University. Willis taught Chemistry and coached football and wrestling at the Milton Hershey School. He enjoyed model trains, birding, photography, woodcraft and the outdoors.
In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara, he is survived by children David Hartman of Plymonth Meeting, Kathy, wife of Scott Smith of League City, TX, Keith, husband of Anita Hartman of Media and 3 grandchildren, Samantha, Robert and Maya. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Louise Sherk, his brothers Dr Samuel Hartman, II and James Rufus Hartman.
A private Time of Gathering by his family will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Wooz’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
