Dennis J. Zimmermann, 69 of Lebanon, formerly of Paradise passed away at home on Friday morning, March 1, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 13, 1954 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late George L. and Edith D. Cucchiara Zimmermann. He was the husband of Catherine A. Nichols Zimmermann with whom he married on November 29, 1985.
Dennis graduated from Memorial High School in West New York in 1972. He worked for many years managing the warehouse and distribution for Evan-Picone in North Bergen, NJ, that is where he met his wife Cathy. Dennis enjoyed being with his family and traveling, especially to Cape May and Disney World. Fishing and photography were a couple of Dennis' hobbies.
Dennis and Cathy moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania becoming the owners of the Creekside Inn Bed and Breakfast in Paradise. They enjoyed hosting guests and built many lasting friendships with guests from around the world. While in Paradise they became very friendly with the Amish community and maintain their friendship to this day. Dennis drove for the Fisher family and Shady Lane Curtains. They left Paradise and retired to Lebanon County.
Dennis was a practical man that was very generous and empathic. He also had a great sense of humor. Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Cathy of Lebanon; brothers, George L. Zimmermann of Dorothy, NJ and Gary R., husband of Luz Zimmermann of Kendall Park, NJ and his nieces and their families, Kady Homerin and Kristie Francis of Bordentown, NJ.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dennis' Christian Prayer Service on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 5PM from the Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon. Friends will be received on Tuesday in Lebanon at the funeral home from 3PM to 6PM.
A visitation will also be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM from the Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home, 152 N. Main Street, Milltown, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM from the St. Augustine of Canterberry Catholic Church
