Howard R. "Skip" Stickler

Howard R. “Skip” Stickler, 82, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Lebanon Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Dawn Zimmerman Stickler whom he married July 2, 1955. Skip was born in Union Twp., Lebanon County, son of the late John A. and Alice R. Ober Stickler.
He was a 1954 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School. Skip was a retired Industrial Analyst for Bethlehem Steel Corp, Lebanon. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lebanon. Skip was an active member of numerous Masonic bodies. He served as Past Master of both Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 F&AM, Lebanon and Keystone Frei Mauer Mark Lodge #400, Reading. He also served as past presiding officer of the York Rite Bodies of Lebanon, York Red Cross of Constantine, Harrisburg Council Princes of Jerusalem, Allied Masonic Degrees, Knight Masons and Lehigh Valley Joshua Association. Skip received numerous Masonic awards in recognition of his service, including Knight of the York Cross of Honour and Meritorious Service Award. In addition, he initiated the annual Memorial Day Masonic Service at the Lebanon VA Medical Center as a special way to honor our veterans. For thirty consecutive years he organized and coordinated this program.
In addition to his wife, Skip is survived by his daughter Judy Uhrich of Lebanon, his son Lee, husband of Debra Stickler of Lebanon, grandchildren Amy Stickler of NC, Jason Stickler of AZ, Reid Uhrich and his partner April Hayes of CA, great grandson Desmond Hayes Uhrich and sister Annabelle Loose of Jonestown. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Skip’s funeral services on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11 AM from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon (next to Quentin Circle). Skip’s granddaughter Rev. Amy Stickler and Rev. Barry Kendall will be officiating. A viewing will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 beginning at 9 AM to time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park. A Masonic Service by Mt. Olivet Lodge # 704 F&AM, will be held prior to the funeral service.
