Joan M. Miller, 91, formerly of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Cornwall. She was the wife of the late Lowell I. Miller.
Born in Lebanon on October 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Crawford H. and Mabel E. (Simpson) Simmers. Joan graduated from Lebanon High School and worked as a nurse at Fairfax Hospital, VA. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Lebanon and St. Paul’s Parish in Washington, DC. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, singing and entertaining guests at home. Joan enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters on frequent vacations to Colorado.
Joan is survived by her sons Daniel Lee Miller, husband of Mary K. Miller of Monument, CO, and David M. Miller, husband of Rose Miller of Hagerstown, MD; granddaughters Dr. Rebecca Lotz and Katherine Romberg, and great grandchildren Luisa Romberg and Miller Romberg.
She was preceded in death by brothers, William, John “Jack,” Richard, and Donald Simmers, and sisters, Helen Williamson, Jane Shott, Betty Gates, Pauline Speck, Thelma Bender, Elizabeth Embich and Marion Donnachie.
Family and friends are invited to attend Joan's celebration of life on Monday, May 22 at a 10:00 AM service at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 6th & Chestnut St, Lebanon. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM preceding the memorial service. A reception will follow the service. The internments for Joan and Lowell will be at St Paul's Episcopal Church, K St. in Washington, D.C. at 3:30 PM the same day.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to either St Luke's Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org ).
