LeRoy K. LeGay, Jr, 81, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Lois Root Garis LeGay. LeRoy was born in Lebanon on February 17, 1940, son of the late LeRoy K., Sr and Hilda Pauline Shott LeGay.
He was a graduate of Annville-Cleona High School Class of 1959. LeRoy retired from the US Navy with 23 years of service, serving during the Vietnam War and later the New Cumberland Depot. Before entering the Navy, LeRoy, had worked at the Bethlehem Steel Co and several automobile dealerships. He worshiped at the Fairland Brethren in Christ Church, Cleona, serving as a greeter. He was an avid NASCAR fan since 1980, loved antique cars being a member of AACA Dutch Region, AACA Hershey Region and Hagerty Driver’s Club. He was a member of the Annville American Legion Post and National Rifle Association of America.
In addition to his wife Lois, LeRoy will be missed by his daughter Lorraine, wife of Marty Davis of Reading and their daughter Leanne. He will also be missed by his step-children, Debra, wife of Jerry Warlow of Lititz, Melody, wife of Carl Longenecker of Palmyra, Dwight Hostetter of Cleona, Albert, husband of Nancy Garis of Annville, Lester, husband of Joanne Garis of Campbelltown; 13 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. LeRoy was preceded in death by his Step mother Laura LeGay, who helped raise him, his first wife Irene Houtz LeGay in 1992 and an infant sister Ann.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend LeRoy’s funeral service on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11 AM from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon where friends will be received Thursday beginning at 10 AM. Private family interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Please omit flowers, family suggests memorial contributions in LeRoy’s memory may be made to his church. CDC protocols will be followed. Family expresses their gratefulness to Hershey Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion provided.
