Lucille Grace Klompus, 97, of Hiawassee, GA, formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2014 at Brasstown Manor. She was born in Lebanon, PA on November 17, 1926, daughter of the late Elwin and Ida Geib Weierbach.
Lucille was the wife for 67 years of her loving husband Fred Klompus, her high school sweetheart whom she married upon his return from service during WWII.
She was a homemaker and later worked as a registered Nurse working at the Lebanon Valley General Hospital in the labor, delivery and postpartum department. Lucille and Fred were active members of Congregation Beth Israel, Lebanon where she was very active in the Sisterhood. She was also a member of the Lebanon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Lucille loved to play cards and was a wiz at Mahjong.
She and Fred also lived in Florida but returned to their hometown in retirement.
Lucille will be missed by her daughter, Janet Klompus Sligh and son-in-law Michael Sligh, her daughter-in-law, Rossi Klompus, her niece, Barbara Cornett and her nephew Dr. Sidney Cohen. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly Harris, Jesse and Gabriel Sligh and her great grandchildren, Barron Harris, Haily and Jacob Sligh. In addition to her husband, Fred, Lucille was preceded in death by her son, Barry and sister Leanna.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lucille’s graveside service at Beth Israel Cemetery, Lebanon on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11 AM. Please no flowers, memorial contributions in Lucille’s memory may be made to Congregation Beth Israel, 411 S. 8th St, Lebanon, PA 17042
