Melvin R. Brightbill

Melvin R. Brightbill, 82, of Bethel, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at ProMedica Health Services,
Lebanon. He was the husband of Anna K. Miller Brightbill, whom he married June 28, 1958. Melvin was
born in Womelsdorf on May 12, 1939, son of the late Wayne L. Sr. and Helen Schlegel Brightbill.
He was a 1957 graduate of Bethel High School. Melvin was employed as a supervising mechanic at
several knitting mills. He was a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church, Myerstown. He was an avid
gardener, cultivating each summer a large crop of vegetables, and he also enjoyed woodworking.
In addition to his wife Anna, Melvin will be missed by his daughter, Linda, wife of Timothy Bossard of
Emmaus, his son, James R., husband of Bernice Brightbill of West Reading; his sisters Dianne Younker of
Lebanon, Grace Weaver of Myerstown and his brother, Herbert Brightbill of Palmyra. He was preceded
in death by brothers Wayne Brightbill Jr., Carl Brightbill, Ernest Brightbill, sisters June Weaver and Myrtle
Neuin.
