Melvin L Stine, 97 passed away March 5, 2023 in Mesa Arizona.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Stine, five brothers and a sister and two half-brothers and four half-sisters. Surviving is one son James Thomas Tighe of Manchester NJ, two grandsons, John and Brian and three great grandchildren, Jacob, Christopher and Khloe. Also in his large family were many nieces and nephews.
Melvin was a WW II Veteran who survived the battle at Iwo Jima. He served as a mortar crewman and later witnessed the flag being raised on the island.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he eventually homesteaded in Alaska until he got the calling to become a missionary. He sold everything he had and traveled south to Mexico to minister the people. Melvin died as he lived, a very humble and honest person whose main goal was to help people and serve the Lord.
Military service with full military honors will be held Monday, April m3, 2023 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA 17003
