Nancy J. Jagnow VanWinkle, 84, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Lebanon Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fred A. “Rip” VanWinkle, who passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 and to whom she was married for 65 years. She was born in Lebanon on October 18, 1934, daughter of the late Carl and Reba Matterness Jagnow.
Nancy was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was the retired owner of the family candy business, Van Winkle’s Opera Fudge. She was for many years Judge of Elections 5th Ward East. Nancy was a member of the Republican Women. She enjoyed going to the Shore, Vacations, ceramics and animals.
Nancy is survived by her sons Fred A. Jr husband of Joan VanWinkle of West Chester, Kirk J., husband of Dawn VanWinkle of Lebanon, grandson Jack VanWinkle of West Chester and her brother Carl Jagnow of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Louise Hockley.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nancy’s funeral service on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 11 AM from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Dr., Lebanon (next to Quentin Circle) with Rev. Barry S. Kendall officiating. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday from 10 AM to time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial contribution in Nancy’s memory to Lebanon Co. Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
