Pauline Louise Griffin Hamilton passed away on April 18, 2023 at Cornwall Manor. She was born June 29, 1928 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Roy and Lillian Trudell.
Raised in South Portland, Maine, she studied and had a career in broadcasting before marrying Robert W. Griffin. Together, they had five children. After Robert passed away, Pauline married George A Hamilton Jr. who had three children and together, they fondly labeled themselves the ‘Brady Bunch’.
Pauline lived life with joy, laughter, compassion and grace. Strangers became friends in a very short time and friends were friends for life. With her optimism, zest for life and can-do New England spirit, she was a loving and dynamic role model for her family. She also served the community as a Girl Scout leader, President of the Parent Teachers Association and the head of church volunteers.
Pauline was a avid sailor, often sailing with her family at Somers Point, New Jersey. She and George established their own sailboat business, Saturday Sailor, in Chalfont, PA. In later years, she and George sailed the Intercoastal Waterway to Florida in their sailboat, ’Breezy’, visiting friends and sight seeing along the way. They also sailed the lochs in Ireland.
Before coming to Cornwall Manor, Pauline and George bought a small farm in Doylestown, PA where they raised chickens, sheep and rabbits, grew vegetables and herbs, made cider and soap and spun and wove wool.
Pauline also enjoyed canoeing, camping, sewing, crocheting and calligraphy. She traveled extensively and made friends wherever she went, with a smile and ‘high-five’.
While residing at Cornwall Manor, Pauline was involved in numerous activities.
Pauline is survived by her children; Cheryl Bosler, Debby Roland, Pam Herceg, Lisa Hantman, Roark Hamilton, Lise Laurin and Bret Hamilton, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband George A. Hamilton Jr. and son Robert W. Griffin Jr.
A memorial service will be held at the Zerr Chapel on the campus of Cornwall Manor on May 13, 2023 at 11:30am. We would like to thank the staff of Cornwall Manor Health Center, Hillside 2 for the wonderful care and companionship provided to Pauline during her residency.
