Thomas M. Shirk

Thomas M. Shirk, 75, of Wyomissing. PA, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Carole L. Dodson Shirk whom he married in 1980. Tom was born in West Lawn, Berks County, PA on September 11, 1948, son of Franklin and Vivian Shelly Shirk.
Tom worked as an elevator constructor, working for 10 years on renovations at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, as well as a member of the IUEC. He was a former Boy Scout, athlete and University of Miami student. Tom had many interests including playing and watching baseball, reading, poetry, music, dogs, photography, the Jersey Shore, travel and national parks.
In addition to his wife, Tom, will be missed by his sons, Alexander, husband of Kimberly Shirk of River Edge, NJ, David, husband of Alexandra Webber of San Diego, CA, his daughter, Carrie Shirk, wife of Evan Reibsome of Shreveport, LA. Thomas is also survived by his brother Alan and sister Cynthia and his grandchildren, Dylan, Brooke, Thomas Jackson, Madeline, Owen and his great grandchild, Dylan Michael. Tom is fondly remembered by his Spanish foreign exchange son, Fernando Andres Pretel and by his beloved dog Jersey.
A memorial service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 12:00 pm on November 25, 2023 at Fairland Brethren in Christ.
