William D. Koons

William D. Koons, 87, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Wellspan Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Carole Faye Schroff Koons, whom he married November 1957. Bill was born in Lebanon on June 6, 1933, son of Adam and Rose Koons.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Bill was retired from the former Quaker Alloy of Myerstown. He was a member of St. John’s UM Church, Lebanon, life member of Lebanon VFW Post 23, was a former firefighter with the Goodwill Fire Co, Lebanon and worked with the Boy Scouts at Covenant UM Church, Lebanon. He enjoyed hunting and hunted mostly on property that is now the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Carole, Bill is survived by his son Scott D., husband of Cheri Koons of Lebanon, his daughter Debra, wife of Kevin Yeagley of Greenpoint; grandson Ryan Yeagley and granddaughter Shawnie Yeagley.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend “Bill’s” funeral services on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 12 Noon from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 11 AM to time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
